Default Why have more then 1 armor set...

I was just wondering why people sometimes have more then 1 armor set?

I have a Cantha 15k for my warrior, haev sup Abs, on Chest, Major Vig on Leg, Minor Axe on Boots and minor str on my Ascalon arms. I have a Sup Tact Help, +4 tact and A Sup Swor(+4) sword Helm i switch depending on my style.

but what is the reason people have more then 1 set?

Different bonuses, like, 1 peice of ascalon/knights armor for the damage reduction. Also, some people have armor sets with specific runes for a specific use, such as farming or whatever.

Some people even collect armors because they like the look of them!

What a shock!

Eh..you said it yourself, you also have a different set with regards to your helms...what doesnt make sense to me is why you have minor axe on boots and a duelist +3 Helm, but ok.

In some circumstances you might want to use Legionnaires armor (stance tanking) for instance or for different builds where you need as much energy as you can get you switch to Gladiators.
I like having to option now with truly different armors instead of 80 vs 85 AL as was the case with the Tyrian armors.

All the above and for bonusses:

for my Ele I have a hydromancer and pyromancer droks armor:
hydro for the Shiverpeaks and pyro for Ring of Fire etcetera. It's an AL 15% gain, which actually does help a bit.

I believe that all the Ele armors had their stats changed from 15% specific to 10% vs all elemental damage, so the above may not stand ground anymore.

Well, I'm experimenting with a W/A atm and as far as I see now the biggest flaw in my build is that I have energy overdose. One energy skill that costs 5 energy and gladiators armor. I should get a new set, since I don't need the extra energy and could use the extra armor.

The new Hydro/Pyro/etc Elementalist armors have 10% vs elemental damage plus 10% vs specific elemental element such as fire or water. So basically, its quite an improvement.

There's also Archmage which gives +HP and Battlemage which has +vs physical.

Erm, I hate to rain on your parade, but there's no point to a full knight's set. One piece of the armor provides the a same damage reduction as full knight's, meaning you just have less armor with no added benefit.

PvE enemies use different types of damage in certain areas and if you want to optimize your protection for each area, you use an armor set which gives the best protection against them. Especially ranger has armor sets which give extra +15 armor vs lighting, fire and cold. Mainly good for solo farming if certain elemental damage type is dominating.

Less compared to what? Knights is now +20 vs physical as well.

Full Knights is indeed a bit of a waste but its not less armor as such.

The stats are meaningless, I go for the armor that looks the best.

Multiple applications require multiple armor sets. I have a +HP set, a boon prot set and a 55hp monk set. I need to add a +e set as well.

For my elementalist, I have a set of +HP with shirt changes against air and water.

For my mesmer, I have a +HP and a +e set.

My rit and necro need more armors, but I am out of storage room at the moment. (Aka, if you see a sell thread of mine, please take something off my hands! )

In addition to full armor sets, my monk and ele (PvP-prepped characters) have hat switches with sups and minors for all attribute lines. Eventually, my other characters will be completely prepped as well, but for now this will work.

+Armor mods are for certain armor part only. Otherwise it would be very unbalanced. Health bonuses can't be one armor part only so each +hp armor part will give you more maximum health.
